Under what rock do they find the bozos who run the NYC St. Patrick's Day parade?

Where do they get these bozos who run the St. Patrick's Day parade in New York City?

In the latest attempt to explain the exclusion of gays from the St. Patrick's Day parade its chairman compares gays to neo-Nazis:

"To John Dunleavy, chairman of the 'no gays allowed' St. Patrick's Day parade in New York City, Irish LGBT activists are comparable to neo-Nazis and the Ku Klux Klan. That's what Dunleavy told The Irish Times in a story about the increasingly controversial parade winding along Fifth Avenue on Friday. For 15 years, the parade committee has refused to allow gay Irish groups to march as an identifiable group.

“'If an Israeli group wants to march in New York, do you allow neo-Nazis into their parade?' Dunleavy told The Irish Times. 'If African-Americans are marching in Harlem, do they have to let the Ku Klux Klan into their parade?'

But this homophobic idiocy is nothing new. Two years ago then parade chairman Jim Barker claimed that homosexuality is a disease that can be cured in a hospital and that, if gays were allowed to march, they might attack children lining the parade route.

They must hold a contest each year to find the person who will make the biggest ass of himself and turn the parade over to him.
Author Frank McCourt was obvious;y right when he noted that if you threw a bomb among the leaders of the Manhattan parade, you would kill "the cream of Irish mediocrity".

If I were Irish, I would be ashamed by people like Dunleavy and Barker. Clearly the only NYC politician (of any party) who rose to the occasion and refused to march was newly minted Council Chair Christine Quinn. If more people stood up like Quinn, bozos like Dunleavy and Barker would go back to where they belong.
