Oct. 15: Walk the Tunnel

Oct. 15, 7:30 AM

Walk-The-Tunnel
Times Square Kick-off rally
(The tunnel opens at 8:30 AM)

On the morning of Saturday Oct. 15th, thousands of New Yorkers will be walking through the Lincoln Tunnel. Fresh air will be pumped into the tunnel and cars diverted to the other tubes. Public transport will be available to bring walkers back. The tunnel is just under 2 miles long, so it should take less than an hour.
Walk-The-Tunnel is a once in a lifetime "opportunity " for New York City history lovers, engineering buffs, those who like unusual events, or those just curious about the world's greatest city's hidden underside.
It is also for people who care about ending AIDS, once and for all. Walk-The-Tunnel marks the first day of a march from New York City to Washington, DC, part of the The Campaign To End AIDS (C2EA) .
Hundreds of people concerned about HIV/AIDS will be walking for three weeks, from the Lincoln Tunnel to the Lincoln Memorial. At the same time, car and van caravans will be winding their way across the country from 8 other locations, converging on the nation's capital for a week of activism. These courageous activists have invited all New Yorkers to join them for the kick off of their historic walk.

If you can't make the march to Washington, here's another way to participate:

Oct. 14, 7:30am

Meet at 58th St. and 5th Ave
(at CBS's outdoor plaza).
Segments are taped at 8am and 8:30am. So it should be all over by 9am.

CBS's Early Show has invited the Campaign to End AIDS to be in its audience this Friday morning, Oct. 14, to promote the kick off of Saturday's Paving the Way march (se above) through the Lincoln Tunnel--that means about 5 million people across the country are going to hear about us!!

We're guaranteed some coverage, but the more lively, kickass people we have in the audience wearing C2EA T-shirts, the more likely it is that the host Dave Price, will hang with us in front of the cameras and give us valuable seconds to promote our cause--ending AIDS!

We told CBS we'd deliver a crowd of around 50-plus, so C2EA is depending on you to come make some noise--between C2EA cheers you can chow down on free Dunkin' Donuts doughnuts and coffee. Did I mention the free doughnuts and
coffee???

If you've got one, wear your C2EA T-shirt! We will also be handing them out for people to throw on.
