Sept. 3: Meeting: Re New Orleans

The caption on whitehouse.gov begins, President George W. Bush is handed a map by Deputy Chief of Staff Joe Hagin.

I was out shopping yesterday and thought that they must be partying in the White House. Katrina gets the media off their backs. For them it's a slam dunk. There's no way they can screw this one up. But, of course, if there is a way, they'll find it. Well! We know now that they found it. Too little, too late. If all their resources weren't focused on the disastrous war in Iraq, there would have been more available to help the (mostly Black) victims of Katrina.
It seems to me that if you want proof that there is no "intelligent designer," George W. Bush and his cohorts in the White House should be more than enough. No one with a modicum of intelligence would have designed this administration. Unless it was a really bad joke on us.
Anyway here's an alternative to the official incompetence.

EMERGENCY MTG on New Orleans, etc
SAT 9/3 1 pm

Hi Everybody,

Many of us are feeling an overwhelming amount of pain and trauma watching direct racism and hate kill our sisters and brothers in New Orleans, MS, AL, (and TX)...Because we know that the state (whether government or multi-million dollar ngos)does not have our interests at heart, we are thinking/planning different ways to support/serve people in this moment:
Some of us are planning to go south; some are collecting food, supplies, clothing, money; some are organizing cultural events; some are activating our networks to offer housing...

Let's Meet. We have a lot collective strength & are neither helpless nor powerless. We do not have to depend on the state to serve the people... ~Kai Lumumba Barrow (Critical Resistance) and Liz Roberts (Brecht Forum)

PLEASE FORWARD WIDELY
