Adam Mansbach is the author of the novels 'Angry Black White Boy' and 'Shackling Water' and the poetry collection 'genius b-boy cynics getting weeded in the garden of delights,' and co-editor of the forthcoming anthology 'A Fictional History of the United States With Huge Chunks Missing.' His writing has appeared in The Boston Globe, The New York Times, The San Francisco Chronicle, JazzTimes, Wax Poetics, The Best Music Writing 2004, Brooklyn Noir, and elsewhere. He lives in Berkeley, and is at work on a third novel.
Danyel Smith has been writing about music for sixteen years. She's a former editor-at-large for Time Inc., and a former editor-in-chief of Vibe. She writes for publications including Elle, Cosmopolitan, Essence, the New Yorker, and wrote concert/album reviews for Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, Spin and the New York Times. Smith is the author of the San Francisco Chronicle-bestselling novel, More Like Wrestling and her second novel, Bliss (Crown), was published last month. The discussion will be moderated by Kat Aaron of WBAI's Wake-Up Show.
