Sept. 10: Rally to defend Geoffrey Blank

FREE SPEECH ACTIVIST GEOFFREY BLANK FACES FOUR YEARS IN PRISON!

Rally with him
Sept. 10, 2pm
the south end of Union Square (off 14th Street)

Geoffrey Blank of the NO POLICE STATE COALITION is due to stand trial on Monday, faced with a battery of charges lodged against him for using a 10-watt, battery-powered megaphone to speak out against the war in Iraq - without a "permit" from the New York Police Department. (The trial begins Monday, 9:30am, at Manhattan Criminal Court, 100 Centre Street, Part A.)

The NYPD has been using unconstitutional "permit" requirements as a pretext for political repression to silence speakers who insist on their right to use public spaces for constitutional political speech. The District Attorney and police have trumped up numerous false charges against Blank, including incitement to riot, assault, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. Now the court has consolidated four separate cases for one trial that could send him to prison for four years.

DEFEND GEOFFREY BLANK!
DEFEND FREE SPEECH!
STOP THE POLICE STATE!
