A.N.S.W.E.R. response to so-called "Freedom Walk"

A.N.S.W.E.R. response to so-called "Freedom Walk"
Statement from Brian Becker
National Coordinator, A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition
Today's so-called "Freedom Walk" sponsored by the Pentagon is a cynical exercise in an effort to shore up sagging support for the president and his war policy in Iraq. The Pentagon created a sanitized "Freedom Walk" that allows only registered walkers. Anyone trying to join the "Freedom Walk" today with a sign condemning the war in Iraq would be arrested. The Bush administration is shameless. It is simply using the victims of September 11 as nothing more than a prop for their stage managed photo op.
On September 24, 2005, hundreds of thousands of people will be demonstrating in Washington DC, San Francisco and Los Angeles opposing the war in Iraq. This demonstration will in fact represent the majority sentiment in the United States, which clearly rejects Bush's war of aggression and occupation in Iraq. We will demand "Bring the troops home now" and "Fund human needs, Not war."
