Aug 4 & 9: City-wide planning for Sept. 24

The Troops Out Now Coalition and the Harlem Tenants' Council organized a very successful rally this past Sunday, July 31 in Harlem's historic Marcus Garvey Park. More than 400 turned out to say "Housing Not War! Bring the Troops Home Now!" Media coverage was extensive, including coverage in Hoy, an almost full-page story in the Epoch Times, and television coverage on NBC, ABC, FOX, and WB11.

One of the most exciting parts of the day's program was the open mike, whem members of the local community spoke out against the war in Iraq and against the war on working people here.

Speakers represented community organizations, labor unions, antiwar coalitions, and international solidarity groups, including Larry Hamm of the Peoples'Organizationfor Progress, Brenda Stokely of the Million Workers March, City Council member Charles Barron, Larry Holmes of the Troops Out Now Coalition, Nellie Bailey of the Harlem Tenants Council, Charles Jenkins of the Transit Workers Union, and many more.

Next Step: Building for September 24 March on Washington DC!
