Harriet's Daughters today announced their inaugural speak-out and rally on Aug. 27,
12 noon to 5:00 pm in the Fulton Street Park, located at Fulton
Street and Stuyvesant Avenue, across the street from Boys and Girls' High
School. The theme of the speak-out and rally is

Community Under Attack; Building A Fightback.

Confirmed speakers and performers include
New York City Councilwoman Letitia James; Monifa Akinwole-Bandele, Malcolm X Grassroots Movement, Black Waxx; Theresa Gutterez, Cuba Five Committee; Samia Halaby, Al Awada; Elombe Brath , Patrice Lumumba Coalition; Monica Moorehead, Troops Out Now; Colette Pean, December 12th Movement; Chrystal Shipp; Brenda Stokley, Karen
Taylor, Rosemari Mealy, Nellie Bailey and Joan P. Gibbs.

The Daughters will also be honoring four women of African descent for their long histories in the Black Liberation Movement: Aminia Baraka, Iyaluua Ferguson, Mae Jackson and Una Mulzac. Harriet"s Daughters is a collective of women of African descent dedicated to continuing the fighting spirit and legacy of Harriet Tubman.
