Film: Peace Propaganda and the Promised Land,

August 21 6:30 p.m.
Galapagos Art Space
70 north 6 street, Williamsburg, Brooklyn
(L train to Bedford Stop)
$5-$15 sliding scale; no one turned away

New York City activist Lysander Puccio will talk about her own experiences in Gaza and the West Bank earlier this year; a new film, Peace Propaganda and the Promised Land, will explore what the news media reports when it comes to the Middle East.
Peace, Propaganda & the Promised Land provides a striking comparison of U.S. and international media coverage of the crisis in the Middle East, zeroing in on how structural distortions in U.S. coverage have reinforced false perceptions of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Bo Smith of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts calls the film "Extraordinarily powerful and courageous." . Interviewees include Seth Ackerman, Rabbi Arik Ascherman, Hanan Ashrawi, Noam Chomsky, Alisa Solomon, and Gila Svirsky.

We will also show a trailer for Bidam (With Blood), a documentary that demonstrates the effects of political policy and military actions on Palestinian civillians in search of routine health care in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Sponsored by the International Solidarity Movement-NYC. www.ism-nyc.org
The International Solidarity Movement-NYC recruits, trains and supports individuals who travel to Palestine to stand in solidarity with Palestinians in nonviolent resistance, and then bring their stories home.
