Howard Dean has brought back a fighting spirit

I can't understand how anyone who watched even a little bit of last year's Republican National Convention could have any problem with Howard Dean's statement that the GOP is "pretty much a white Christian party." If anyone can think of anything the Republicans have done recently (how about the last 100 years) that benefited anyone who wasn't rich, white and probably Christian. I would love to know.
So I can only ask New York Democratic Party Spokesperson Howard Wolfson (also a top aid to Sen Clinton), who according to the NY Post said, "I do think these comments are over the line and not appropriate, what line do they cross? The truth line? The Post also reports that Delaware Sen. Joe Biden and House minority Leader Nancy Pelosi have joined in the criticism of Dean.
These are, of course, many of the same people who predicted that Dean would be a disaster as DNC chair. They are also from the wing of the Democratic Party that wants to accommodate the right-wing ("red states").
If this happens-and we should appreciate Dean's resistance to this strategy-the Democrats will become the Washington Generals to the Republican Harlem Globetrotters. AS the Globetrotters realized: you can't win if you don't have a patsy to play.
Atrios and AmericaBlog; have suggested people contribute to the the Party to support Dean. Although I support Dean's attempts to bring back a fighting spirit to the Democrats, I could not in all good conscience recommend contributing money to the Democrats when there are so many other far more valuable ways to spend your money. But I cheer on their intent.
